Insulated Loft Storage Boards

Insulated Loft Storage Boards

Some people store ‘stuff’ in the loft. This can be a problem when the loft timbers are either 100 or 150mm thick, as the recommended thickness for natural insulations is 250mm thick (270mm for conventional insulations).

The options are:

  • Getting rid of your ‘stuff’
  • Increasing the size of the loft timbers to 250mm
  • Laying our 100mm thick loft storage boards.

Our insulated loft storage boards are 1200mm long x 500mm wide x 100mm thick (2 sheets of 50mm thick) and are made from high density extruded polystyrene. If you put a 100mm or 150mm layer of natural insulations between the loft timbers and a 100mm thick loft storage board above, you will achieve a ‘U’ value of 0.16 which is the minimum required for Home Information Packs and Building Regulations – and you will still be able to store your ‘stuff’!

Pack Size 1 covers 0.6m2 - 1200 x 500 x 100mm thick (2 x 50mm thick boards) £26.00 including delivery and VAT
Pack Size 2 covers 1.2m2 - 1200 x 500 x 100mm thick (4 x 50mm thick boards) £39.00 including delivery and VAT

Although ideal for storage, these boards are not suitable for walking on. However you could fix a layer of chipboard on top the loft storage boards.

Why You Should Install a Natural Insulation

Why You Should Install a Natural Insulation

The Big Picture
Natural Insulations:

  • Are more thermally efficient than mineral fibre
  • Use less energy and emit less CO2 in manufacture than mineral fibre (particularly Warmcel 100)
  • Are safer to handle than mineral fibre
  • Have the ability to absorb and desorb moisture without losing their efficiency
  • Can store CO2 during growth (hemp)
  • Can help UK sheep farmers (Thermafleece and Black Mountain)
  • Can be composted or incinerated for energy use at the end of their (long) life
  • Warmcel 100 makes use of recycled newsprint
