Carbon Footprint Scheme

As a company we are concerned about the carbon footprint of our activities, both as far as the manufacture and the transport of our insulations is concerned.

Manufacture

There is no recognized standard when comparing the carbon footprint of one building product against another. What is indisputable however is that natural insulations (particularly Warmcel, which uses about 10 times less energy to make than traditional glass fibre insulation) are less dependent on oil in manufacture.

Transport

One area where we can accurately gauge the carbon footprint of our insulations is in its transportation to our customers. Warmcel and Thermafleece come direct from the manufacturer , while Isonat comes from a central stock near Faversham direct to the customer. Most traditional insulations go from the manufacturer to a central depot then to the retail outlet, then to the customer.

Carbon Footprint Tariff

We have decided to introduce an innovative 'Carbon Footprint Tariff' on all our products. Based on the mileage from the manufacturer to your postcode we will make a donation, within the price we charge you, to Practical Action. We think this is a small but worthwhile step in cutting the global carbon emissions involved in getting your insulation to your door.
Practical Action is a charity which encourages the sustainable use of small scale technologies to reduce poverty in developing countries - the countries that will be hit hardest by climate change.
For instance in Nepal the charity has established a Renewable Energy Village demonstrating how micro-hydro, solar and wind can make an enormous benefit to local development, without increasing carbon emissions.
